The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ejigbo chapter on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the lawmaker representing Oshodi/Isolo constituency 2 at the lower chamber if the National Representativees, Hon. Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson and were received by the amiable wife of the lawmajer, Mrs. Funke Johnson.
The NYCN was led by Comrade Akinyele Akintunde, coordinator and Comrade Otegola Nurudeen, popularly called Maximum, secretary
In his address, Akintunde said the group as a pressure group acknowledged the good works of Hon. Johnson in the constituency since he assumed office as the representative of the people. He maintained that the lawmaker had changed the narrative of representation in the constituency, even as he charged other public office holders to emulate the House of Representatives member for a better society and deepening of democracy.
The group which used the opportunity to appoint Mrs. Funke Johnson as its Matron, also decorated the wife of the lawmaker at the event. It said the choice of Mrs. Johnson was not by accident as her philantopic gesture had been noticed, stating that as a mother she would be in the best position to give them motherly advise and assistance any time the need arises.
Funke Johnson who was elated by the responsibility given to her, Harped on unity among the youths. She said that the youths have a special place in the heart of the lawmaker and anything that would lead to enhancement of the potentials of hhe youths was always sipported by the former Lagos State commissioner for works and infrastructure.
She said, “I want to request that you be united, always come to the constituency as a United body. We dont want to hear of division among you. I would advise that you do less of talk and take action. We discovered that youths will do 80 percent talk and 30 percent action, let all that stop. You must all support yourselves, be focused. I would like you to think of something that can enhance your welfare and we would support you. The youth should be empowered and we are ready to work with you but you must be United.”
Meanwhile, the women wing of the south-south in Isolo and Ejigbo chapters, also visited the lawmaker to show appreciation for the tremendous support they have been receiving from Mrs. Johnson.
The leader of Ejigbo group, Mrs. Osaigbova Felicia thanked Mrs. Johnson, elaborating on the various ways the administration of Hon. Johnson has impacted positively on their lives, and promised to reciprocate the good gesture when the need arises. “Call us anytime, anyday, we will answer you” said Mrs. Osaigbova.
Mrs. Blessing onyeije, who led the Isolo chapter, also appreciated Mrs. Johnson whom she said changed the face of politics in the Constituency. She said the era of ‘used and dump” had gone in the Constituency, stressing that testimonies aboundsm, as many of the women in the meeting attest to the way Mrs. Johnson has benefited them in one way or the other .
In her response, Mrs Funke said, ” Doing good is a good business. If you can’t love your fellow human being you can’t claim to love God, and you can’t be my friend. Beyond politics, helping people in our own way is the ministry that God has given to me and my husband and that instruction is what we are carrying.”
She also charged the women to be more productive and supportive to their husbands. “Whatever the business you engage in, do it well and see how the blessing of God will visit you. Go and work! I don’t like lazy people. Giving you fish is not my style but how to teach you how to fish. I will give all of you financial assistance to boost their businesses.” She said.
