Edo State Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu will join running mates of governorship candidates of other political parties in a debate on their preparation for the task of serving the people of the state.
The debate fixed for September 1, would come up live on TV.
According to the Deputy Governor Chief Press Secretary, Ebomhiana Musa, the debate would comply with Covid 19 protocol. He added that only 500 delegate would be allowed to the hall which has the capacity to accommodate only 1000 people.
He said: “I wish to inform the house that the Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu will be joining the running mates of governorship candidates of other political parties on a live TV debate, Tuesday, September 1, 2020. Time is 4.30 through 6.30. Venue is Best Western Hotel, off Sapelle Road. Benin.
“His Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki will have his turn, next day, Wednesday, September 2 with other governorship candidates. Same time, same venue. It’s being organised by Nigerian Elections Debate Group under the auspices of Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, BON.
“It will be on the network of NTA, AIT, ITV and of course, our own EBS will hook on to it. Other TV and radio stations in the South South geopolitical zone of the country will also take it live
“Pease, join the big debate in the comfort of your home in case the invite does not get to you. Only 500 guests will be invited for the hall that takes only 1,000. This is in strict compliance with the COVID-19 protocol.”
